Evolution of global norms and the Responsibility to Protect

FGV’s School of Social Sciences /CPDOC  in São Paulo hosted the "Challenges for Peace and International Security in the 2nd Dilma Government" conference on March 12th in partnership with the Humanity United foundation and organized in collaboration with the Global Public Policy Institute (GPPi). Diplomats, academics, journalists and other experts who have recently discussed the main challenges and opportunities in the area of peace and international security for Brazil have attended the event. One of the researchers who contributed to the debates proposed for the event was professor Sarah Brockmeier that, in today’s Pocket Talks, comments on her research regarding the development of global standards and the responsibility to protect, developed in GPPi, which brings important elements to discuss the State's responsibility to protect civilians from mass atrocities and global standards that legitimize such protection tactics.
