Michael Reid, who writes the Bello column on Latin America for The Economist, will talk about his new book, “Brazil: The Troubled Rise of a Global Power”. The book is an interpretation of Brazil’s contemporary history and politics, published by Elsevier and Yale University Press at 2014. According to Marcelo de Paiva Abreu, professor at Pontifical Catholic University in Rio de Janeiro, “It is, by far, the best introductory book to Brazil that’s been in market.” His previous book, "Forgotten Continent: The Battle For Latin America's Soul" (2007), is widely acclaimed. He has been a regular contributor to newspaper Valor Econômico.
