FGV / CPDOC organized the "Carnegie Rising Democracies" that brings together international specialist on democracy

On 3rd and 4th November, the FGV’s Center for International Relations in the School of Social Sciences / CPDOC with Carnegie Endowment for International Peace held the meeting "Rising Democracies Network" sponsored by the Robert Bosch Foundation. The event had the participation of 20 specialists on democracy from 11 countries - South Africa, Germany, Argentina, Chile, South Korea, USA, Netherlands, India, Indonesia, Japan and Turkey and representatives of the Robert Bosch Foundation and the Carnegie Endowment.


The two days of work and debates were intense and included the presence of several Brazilian persornalities as ambassadors Rubens Ricupero and Antonio Simoes, director of the NGO Human Rights Conectas Lucia Nadera, director of Human Rights Watch Brazil Maria Laura Canineu, international  journalist  of Folha de São Paulo (São Paulo’s newspaper) Clovis Rossi, director of the Instituto Fernando Henrique Cardoso Sergio Fausto, along with FGV’s professors  and researchers Prof. Oscar Vilhena, Prof. Claudio Couto, Marcos Tourinho and Prof. Oliver Stuenkel.


This Carnegie’s meeting is organized annually in major research centers worldwide. Carnegie aims to bring together a group of high-level researchers and international experts to discuss the situation of democracy in the world. The Carnegie Endowment is the oldest international think tank in the United States, founded in 1910.
