Call for Applications: Nuclear Security Fellowships at FGV (Brazil)
16/05/2018

The Center for International Relations at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) is now accepting up to five short-term research fellows to help it further develop its presence in the field of nuclear politics and security.
The project seeks to support excellent research, increase cooperation between scholars, and foster dialogue between the academy and the policy world.
Fellows will be invited to spend up to three months between July 2018 and May 2019 at our offices in São Paulo, Brazil.
Each fellowship includes a monthly stipend of R$ 10,000 (ten thousand Brazilian reais), one return economy airfare, and additional funds for domestic research expenses as required.
Suitable candidates will be advanced graduate students, early-career scholars, or policymakers, and will show potential to become intellectual leaders in the field of nuclear security. FGV welcomes applications from all disciplines, including International Relations, Political Science and History. The fellowship is intended for individuals of any nationality based outside Brazil.
We expect each fellow to collaborate on a range of activities that may include one or more of the following:

• Conducting original research in the field of nuclear politics and security, broadly defined;
• Generating policy-relevant knowledge;
• Developing intellectual ties with Brazil-based academics, for example by participating in grant applications and establishing long-term projects.

Application process

Applications will include a CV and cover letter outlining the proposed research in detail. Candidates should explain how their proposed activities in Brazil at into their own research agenda.
We are especially interested in candidates who have developed or are willing to develop long-term research collaboration with academic partners in Brazil.
Fellowships will be awarded on the strength of the candidate’s proposal, research agenda, scholarly record, and their ability to contribute to the intellectual life of our community.
Candidates can apply on a rolling basis until September 2018. Application should be submitted to ri@fgv.br.
For informal queries pertaining to this fellowship you may contact Dr. James Cameron (james.cameron@fgv.br).
Please be aware that you may need a visa to come to Brazil. Please contact the nearest Brazilian consulate for more information.
This fellowship is made possible through a generous grant from the Stanton Foundation.
