Quem desloca tem preferência: ensaios sobre futebol, jornalismo e literatura
Soccer as a popular passion has often been referenced as a symbol of national identity. Professor Marcelino Rodrigues, UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais), presents us, in this Pocket Talks' edition, a more complex view of the sport through different journalist perspectives coming from journalism, literature and history. Rodrigues highlights the multiple ideas of borders involved by practice (the symbolic, political, disciplinary, etc.), showing how those borders have evolved since the first soccer matches in Brazil in late Nineteenth Century. Connecting the local and the global, as pointed out by the teacher, soccer is presented as a privileged object of study for the Humanities.
